Regularly conditioning your footwear is essential to keep it supple and promote longevity. It's best to use products specifically formulated for the material of your shoes, whether leather, suede, synthetic, or other materials. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when applying any shoe care product. Additionally, it's advisable to test a small area first to ensure the product will achieve the desired results before applying it to the entire shoe.

Caring for Different Shoe Materials

At JOSEF SEIBEL, we design footwear using a range of premium materials from classic leather to soft suede and practical synthetics and each one needs a slightly different approach. Looking after your shoes the right way not only keeps them looking their best but also helps them last longer.

Get Weather Ready

The last thing you want is wet and cold feet, when the rain or snow comes. Leather boots, especially those lined with fur, look stylish and will definitely keep your feet warm, but they’re not always water-resistant. Protect your footwear before venturing out.

For Suede And Nubuck lovers...

Suede and nubuck have a soft, velvety texture that requires a little extra care. While they aren’t the best choice for wet weather, applying a protective spray regularly will help guard against unexpected showers. A rubber or suede brush is ideal for lifting away dirt without damaging the delicate surface.

How to care for suede & nubuck

Clean: Gently lift dirt using a suede brush or cleaning block — avoid using water, as it can mark the material.

Revive: Brush in one direction to restore the natural nap and maintain a uniform finish.

Remove marks: Use a suede eraser to tackle scuffs and stubborn spots.

Protect: Apply a specialist suede/nubuck protector spray to add water and stain resistance

Rotate your footwear

Individual wear patterns will eventually alter the structural integrity of a shoe. Wearing shoes with varying degrees of wear, cushioning, or stability will keep foot fatigue at bay and ensure longevity of your footwear. Leaving your shoes to thoroughly dry out between wears is another good reason for alternating your shoes every day or so. It's also a good excuse to purchase a new pair of shoes.

Caring For Vegan Footwear

Caring For Vegan Footwear

Our WESTLAND BY Josef Seibel collection features high quality, vegan-friendly materials. Cleaning these easy care materials is simple; usually, a damp cloth with mild soap will effectively remove dirt, salt, or grease stains. If soap and water don't work, there are specifically formulated products designed for synthetic materials. Always test a small area first before cleaning the entire shoe to ensure it achieves the desired result.
