We’re often asked ‘What should I look for in a good shoe?’ or ‘What is most important to Josef Seibel when we design our footwear?’ and so we thought we’d use today’s blog to give you our best answers and top tips for buying new footwear.
Fit and Comfort
Number 1a and 1b for us are fit and comfort and you can’t have one without the other! The shoe should fit your foot, not the other way round. There should be room for your foot to move, flexibility in the sole and the shoe should feel comfortable straight away. Depending on your individual needs, you could look out for adjustability in fixings.
Quality construction and materials
It’s well worth choosing to buy your shoes from a reputable manufacturer and consider what your footwear is made from. If you want your shoes to last, think about overall value, not just a low price. Josef Seibel has been designing and manufacturing our own footwear since 1886, so our experts have a lot of experience to marry skilful craftsmanship with modern construction techniques and the knowledge of when to choose rich leather, traditional hand stitching, or when to select high performance contemporary materials. Look out for shoes that will let your feet breathe and absorb moisture.
When to buy
It’s best to try on shoes in the afternoon or evening as our feet may swell slightly during the day.
Choose a style that will work hard for you.
We’re big fans of versatile footwear at Josef Seibel, styles that suit many outfits and occasions. That way you will have quality footwear that you can turn to on a daily basis. The Rosalie group from the Josef Seibel Spring/Summer 21 collection is a great example. It is both practical and stylish and can be teamed with skirts, dresses or trousers to wear for work, shopping, or days out.
We hope you find these tips helpful and enjoy your spring shoe shopping. Life is better with happy feet!
