For this week’s independent shoe shop feature, we have been speaking to Elevate Your Sole, which has been in business since 2013 and has three boutique shoe shops along the North Wales coast in Llandudno, Prestatyn and Rhos-on-Sea.
The shops re-opened on 22nd June in line with Covid-19 regulations in Wales.
Business owner, Hal Holmes Pierce, said, “All three of our shops are located in tourist shopping destinations and with the hotels and local accommodation not quite yet open, we have been very grateful for the loyal support we have received from our local customers over the past few weeks and via our website from which we continued to trade during lockdown. We have 16 members of staff and all those who can, have now returned to work. Many of our customers were so keen to come back, see our staff and buy some new shoes. It has been lovely and we’ve had some great feedback to the safety measures we have put in place. We have tried to think of everything so that our customers feel comfortable and confident to return to the shops.”
Some of the measures in place in Elevate Your Sole’s shops include large posters and signage detailing the measures, a limit to the number of customers, screened till areas and protective booths and screens behind which people can try on shoes safely. Face masks are also available for a small charge.
Hal continues, “We specialise in quality, casual footwear and we have stocked Josef Seibel from the beginning. Since re-opening we have sold quite a lot of sandals which is a pleasant surprise and I’m hoping this will continue once the holidaymakers are allowed to return. Smart trainers have also been popular as they are so versatile, even in bright colours. We would like to thank all our customers for their loyalty and support, we are ready to welcome anyone who has not yet felt confident to venture out. You can be sure of a safe and warm welcome at Elevate Your Sole.”
